Skiing and More at Roundtop Mountain Resort

Roundtop Mountain Resort is a full-service ski resort located about 20 minutes north of York near the small town of Lewisberry, PA. The resort features a 1,355’ mountain with a vertical drop of 600’. A wide range of slopes are available for skiers of all experience and skill levels.

If you’re interested in snow tubing, Roundtop Mountain Resort also offers an expansive tubing run with up to 14 lanes in operation, as well as a special Kiddie Tubing area for the youngsters. After an action-packed day of skiing or tubing, be sure to stop by the beautiful Mountain View Lodge where you can enjoy good food and drink as you warm up by the cozy fireplace.

Tubing and Skating at Avalanche Xpress

Another popular outdoor winter spot in the York area is Avalanche Xpress, conveniently located in the East York area at the Heritage Hills Resort. Avalanche Xpress features up to eight tubing lanes and two powered rope lines to tow tubers back to the top of the hill at the end of their run.

The on-site fire pits will help you stay warm throughout the day or evening, and you can even sip custom-made hot chocolate to help you thaw out! Other available Avalanche Xpress activities include ice skating, laser tag and hockey. While you’re there, you can dine in style at Bogey Macaws American Grille or pamper yourself at the luxurious Serenity Spa & Salon.

Experience Christmas Magic at Rocky Ridge Park

During the holiday season, you can enjoy Christmas Magic at Rocky Ridge County Park, located just east of York off of Mount Zion Road. A large portion of the park is lit up with a dazzling display of lights and holiday-themed decorations along a half-mile walking trail. The entire layout includes more than 600,000 lights in all, as well as five enclosed, heated pavilions containing imaginative displays featuring breathtaking animation. There’s no better place in the York area to capture the true spirit of the holidays.

If you don’t feel like braving the cold, you’ll find plenty of indoor activities to keep you busy throughout the winter. See a show at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center in downtown York, or take a tour of the Harley-Davidson factory and museum. The York Expo Center typically has a full slate of shows, exhibits and other events during the winter and throughout the year.
